Chester County voters can return mail ballots at 13 drop boxes starting Monday, Oct. 12, including a 24-hour box at the Government Services Center on Westtown Road in West Goshen Township.
Six precincts across the county will also vote at new locations on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Voter Services Director Michele DiCaprio announced both changes at the Friday, Oct. 2, Board of Elections meeting in West Chester, as first reported by the Daily Local News.
24-hour drop boxes
Three locations offer round-the-clock ballot return starting Oct. 12:
- Chester County Government Services Center, 601 Westtown Road, West Goshen Township
- Chester County Library, 250 Exton Square Parkway, West Whiteland Township
- Henrietta Hankin Branch Library, 215 Windgate Drive, West Vincent Township
Ten library sites will accept ballots on a set schedule: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays.
Polling place changes
The six relocated precincts and the reasons for each move:
- East Coventry Precinct 1 shifts to Parker Ford Church from the Owen J. Roberts District Services Center, which is under renovation.
- Precinct 185, West Downingtown moves to Brandywine Grace Church because of traffic, parking and accessibility problems at Downingtown Middle School.
- East Fallowfield Precinct 230 relocates to Doe Run Elementary School after East Fallowfield Elementary was demolished.
- Honey Brook Township 2, Precinct 301 moves within Tel Hai Retirement Community, from the club to the Stonecroft building.
- Londonderry Precinct 335 shifts to the Londonderry Township building from the Cochranville Fire Company.
- Lower Oxford will vote at Lincoln University International Cultural Center.
Chester County has 230 precincts and 391,244 registered voters. As of Friday, Oct. 2, the county had received 48,486 mail-ballot requests.
"My team trained over 1,400 individuals across 30-plus classes … We also completed our Drop Box and Central Scan training this week," DiCaprio said at the meeting.
Key deadlines
- Monday, Oct. 19: Voter registration deadline
- Tuesday, Oct. 27: Deadline to apply for a mail-in or civilian absentee ballot
- Tuesday, Nov. 3: Election Day, polls open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The first batch of mail ballots went out Sept. 30. DiCaprio's report was not posted to the county website until Tuesday, Oct. 6; a spokesperson said the webmaster had been out for a funeral.
The Board of Elections, made up of Commissioners Josh Maxwell, Marian Moskowitz and Eric Roe, meets next at 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at 313 W. Market St., West Chester, sixth floor.
