Two live cockroaches turned up at La Rancherita Mexican Taqueria in downtown West Chester after two rounds of pest-control treatment, according to Chester County Health Department inspection results reported by MyChesCo on Saturday, Sept. 5.

The restaurant at 323 E. Gay St. received a thermo-fogger treatment on Wednesday, Sept. 2, and a second pest-control treatment in the Sept. 4 inspection round. Cockroaches were still present.

Inspectors reviewed photographs showing equipment and utensils had not been covered or removed during the Sept. 2 fogging. Employees later cleaned and sanitized equipment in cooking and juicing areas. Inspectors ordered remaining pots, pans and food-contact surfaces in the dish-washing area to be thoroughly washed, rinsed and sanitized.

The restaurant's current operating status and any re-inspection date have not been publicly stated by the health department.
