Chester County health inspectors found expired ready-to-eat food at Square Bar, 250 E. Chestnut St. in West Chester, during a follow-up inspection on Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Guinness onions dated Aug. 21 and sauerkraut dated Aug. 22 had exceeded the required seven-day date-marking period for refrigerated ready-to-eat foods, myChesco reported. Both items were 10 to 11 days old. Staff voluntarily discarded them on-site.

Inspectors also found sanitizer at the bar's three-compartment sink below the required concentration. It was adjusted during the visit. Additional findings included cleaning and maintenance issues and a missing utility sink.

The visit was a follow-up, meaning inspectors had previously cited the bar. No public response from Square Bar appears in the inspection record.
