A question from a little kid sparked a picture book that Chester County's own Ascension will bring to shelves this fall.

David Henrie, best known as Justin Russo on Disney Channel's "Wizards of Waverly Place," and his wife, Maria Henrie, wrote "Is God Bigger Than a Dragon?" after their young son kept asking them just how big God is. The hardcover rhyming book, aimed at children ages 3 to 7, follows a boy and his father as they compare God's greatness to dragons, dinosaurs, roller coasters and the far reaches of heaven, with Bible verses woven into every page.

Ascension, the Exton-based Catholic publisher behind the chart-topping "Bible in a Year" podcast with Fr. Mike Schmitz, will release the book Nov. 10. Preorders are open now at AscensionPress.com/Bigger.

"As a parent, there's two very separate things: there's story time and then there's Bible time. This book brings both of those together," Henrie said in Ascension's Aug. 3 announcement.

Maria Henrie, who was crowned Miss Delaware in 2011, married David in 2017. The book is their first foray into children's publishing, though both have spoken publicly about raising their children in the Catholic faith. No local book signing or Chester County appearance has been announced.

Illustrator Adam Gustavson, a Rowan University professor whose artwork has appeared in more than 30 children's books, painted the illustrations. Gustavson co-owns the Renaissance Art Studio in Millburn, New Jersey, with his wife Denise.

Jonathan Roumie, the actor who plays Jesus in the streaming series "The Chosen," endorsed the project, calling it a "family-centered storybook" that reveals "the enormity of God's love" to children.

Ascension has operated in Chester County since 1998, with its headquarters in Exton and a mailing address in West Chester. The company employs 108 people and ranked No. 52 on Fortune's Best Small Workplaces list in 2025. It has sold more than 12 million physical Bibles, books and resources and logged over 1 billion podcast downloads.

The publisher is also offering a free downloadable Bible study guide to help families continue faith conversations after reading the book, according to MyChesCo. Ascension describes the title as suited for bedtime stories, Sunday school, faith milestones like baptism and first Holy Communion, and Christmas gifting.
