The West Chester Area School District (WCASD) school board approved Jacquelyn "Jackie" Longan as assistant principal at Henderson High School and Amy Terkanian as assistant principal at J.R. Fugett Middle School on Aug. 24.

Both educators come from outside the district. The board announced the hires in a Sept. 14 press release, and MyChesCo first reported the full details of both appointments on Sept. 16. All nine board members were present for the Aug. 24 vote.

Longan brings more than 20 years of experience in education. She comes to Henderson from the Downingtown Area School District, where she most recently served as a gifted education specialist. Before that, she worked as a district instructional coach in Downingtown, leading professional development on formative assessment, standards-based grading and curriculum design. She holds a PK-12 principal certification and instructional coach endorsement from Eastern University. She earned a Master of Education and a bachelor's in elementary education from West Chester University.

Henderson enrolls about 1,444 students.

Terkanian brings 20 years of experience in elementary and middle school education. She previously worked at Garnet Valley Middle School as a math and science educator and math specialist. Her background includes mentoring new teachers and implementing Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Restorative Practices programs. She holds bachelor's and master's degrees from Rutgers University and earned her principal certification from West Chester University, where she is pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership.

"I look forward to building meaningful connections with the students and families of Fugett Middle School to foster a safe, inspiring, and thriving school community," Terkanian said in the district's announcement.

Dr. James Conley, assistant superintendent of secondary education, cited both administrators' instructional leadership and focus on student growth in discussing the hires, according to MyChesCo.

Fugett also welcomed a new principal earlier this year. The district appointed Zachary Lewis to lead the middle school in February 2026.
