Mitch Ragni scored his first collegiate touchdown on a one-yard plunge Saturday, Sept. 19, giving West Chester University a 14-7 lead in a 44-24 road rout of Edinboro.
The 44 points were the most the Golden Rams have scored in regulation under head coach Duke Greco, according to WCU Athletics. West Chester outgained Edinboro 395-244 in total offense at Sox Harrison Stadium in front of 2,785 fans.
Ragni, a 6-foot, 235-pound redshirt junior fullback from West Chester, is a West Chester East graduate who switched from linebacker to offense in 2024. He spent that season as a blocking back with no carries or receptions. He appeared in all 11 games in 2025 but managed just two rushing attempts for one yard. Against Edinboro, he finished with two carries for three yards and the touchdown.
He also converted a fourth-and-1 with a two-yard run that kept the Golden Rams' opening scoring drive alive.
O'Sullivan earns conference honor
Quarterback Colin O'Sullivan led the offense, completing 14 of 19 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns while adding a rushing score. He guided West Chester to points on eight of its nine possessions and earned PSAC Eastern Division Offensive Athlete of the Week.
Wide receiver Blake Thomas caught five passes for 113 yards and a 24-yard touchdown in his first appearance of the season. Running back Mikhail Johnson added 83 yards on 21 carries and hauled in a 29-yard touchdown pass.
Kicker Tommy Pajic, a sophomore filling in after the starting kicker was sidelined by illness, went 3-for-3 on field goals from 20, 31 and 45 yards. The 45-yarder was a career high. He also went 5-for-5 on extra points for 14 total points and earned PSAC Eastern Division Special Teams Athlete of the Week.
Second-half shutout until late
West Chester trailed 17-14 at halftime after Edinboro capitalized on a Golden Rams fumble at their own 8-yard line. The defense locked down from there, holding Edinboro scoreless in the third quarter and most of the fourth. Edinboro's only second-half score came on an 80-yard touchdown pass with 2:52 remaining.
Miles Goodwin led the defense with eight tackles. Debrick Johnson recorded five tackles, two tackles for loss including a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
"Good play? … Next snap. Bad Play? … Next snap. This was a really good team win," Greco said after the game.
West Chester improved to 2-1 overall. The Golden Rams opened with a 21-13 win over Lincoln on Sept. 5 before falling 27-21 in double overtime to IUP on Sept. 12.
