Dylan Blair will spend his final college basketball season at West Chester University playing for his father, head coach Damien Blair.

The senior guard and business management major from Downingtown started all 29 games last season. He scored 280 points and averaged 29.9 minutes per game for a Golden Rams squad that earned the No. 2 seed in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament, according to the university's roster page.

The Blair family has a long history with WCU basketball. Dylan's father scored the second-most points in program history with 2,025 during his playing career and earned back-to-back PSAC Player of the Year honors. His mother, Carolyn, played on the 1996-97 WCU women's team that won the PSAC East title and reached the NCAA Division II East Regional Semifinals, according to City of Basketball Love.

Dylan's youngest sister is set to join the WCU women's basketball program next year, the fourth Blair to suit up for the Golden Rams.

Blair didn't come straight to West Chester. He chose Army West Point out of Downingtown West High School, where he became the program's all-time leading scorer and earned Pennsylvania All-State Class 6A Third Team honors after averaging 19 points, five assists and three rebounds as a senior. He also led the Whippets to the Ches-Mont League title game and the PIAA state tournament for the first time since 2017.

"The opportunity to play Division I basketball, the opportunity to serve my country, and the opportunity to have a great education, I felt like it kind of was a no-brainer," Blair told the Philadelphia Inquirer in March 2023, explaining his decision to pick Army over WCU.

He transferred to WCU in 2024. In a Sept. 14 profile in The Quad, WCU's student newspaper, Blair said the biggest adjustment was adapting to the freedom of a traditional college campus after the structured environment at West Point.

"Coming from Army, I never really had the freedom to leave my dorm or apartment at any hour of the night or go off campus without letting someone know," Blair told The Quad. "So, again, finding the balance between work and fun was probably the biggest challenge."

Blair said the level of play at Division II was similar to what he experienced at Division I. He called his favorite WCU memory watching the Golden Rams get selected for the NCAA Division II Tournament on television in March.

Blair picked jersey No. 3 at age 7, inspired by Allen Iverson. His older brother, Hunter, was his teammate at Downingtown West during Dylan's freshman year. One sister plays lacrosse at the University of Florida.

Before coaching at WCU, Damien Blair built Downingtown High School's boys basketball program into a Ches-Mont power. He led the team to its first league title in 2007 and compiled a 173-78 record as the school's all-time winningest coach.

The Golden Rams' 2026-27 schedule has not yet been released.
