The Chester County History Center's "Chilling West Chester" walking tour returns in October, with $20 tickets available on the center's website.

The 90-minute outdoor tour meets at the History Center, 225 North High Street, and draws on the center's own archives to recount real stories of murder, disaster and misadventure stretching back two centuries. According to the Chester County History Center's event listing, the program covers true history, not ghost stories.

Topics include the Chester County Prison, killers tried at the courthouse and explosions that struck the borough.

Thursday evening tours, including the Oct. 15 date, begin at 6 p.m., according to the Downtown West Chester events calendar. Saturday sessions start at 11 a.m. The series runs Wednesdays and Thursdays through Nov. 4 and Saturdays through Oct. 31, with an additional Tuesday, Oct. 20, session at 6 p.m.

Chester County History Center members receive a 20% discount on tickets using a member code. Memberships can be purchased or renewed on the center's website. In 2025, the same tour cost $18 per person.

The tour is entirely outdoors, rain or shine. Sidewalks and terrain may be uneven, and the History Center advises dressing for the weather. Service dogs are welcome, but other pets are not permitted.

The center warns the content is graphic and not suitable for children. Tickets are non-refundable, and questions can be directed to [email protected].
