The West Chester Garden Club will open its annual "Summer's End" flower show to the public Thursday, Sept. 24, at St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church in Malvern.
The show runs from noon to 2:30 p.m. and features exhibits in three divisions: Horticulture, Photography and Pot et Fleur. That last category pairs rooted plants with cut flowers into a single arrangement. Judges will award ribbons in every class before doors open at noon.
Flower Show Chair Jen Patterson said the event gives visitors a close look at what the club's 35 members grow, arrange and photograph.
"Exhibiting is an opportunity to learn, experiment, and share ideas with one another …" Patterson said in the club's announcement in the Daily Local. She added that the judging process is part of what makes a flower show rewarding.
Patterson said visitors would see fresh ideas and inspiration for gardeners at every level. Together, the three divisions showcase the many ways members observe, grow, arrange and interpret the natural world, according to the club.
The West Chester Garden Club, an affiliate of the Garden Club of America with 200 member clubs nationwide, has deep roots in the area. The club marked its 100th anniversary in November 2025, according to the Daily Local. Its 35 members meet monthly for educational programs and business meetings.
Beyond those gatherings, members promote native plants, maintain community gardens and tend the entrance to Oaklands Cemetery on Pottstown Pike in West Goshen Township. They also decorate public spaces for the holidays.
St. Francis in the Fields is located on Sugartown Road in Malvern. The club posts updates on its website.
