West Goshen Township's Board of Supervisors has approved equipment for a new splash pad at Community Park, with a target opening of summer 2027.
The board approved a proposal from General Recreation for the splash pad equipment, according to a township notice posted Wednesday, Sept. 16. Carroll Engineering is finalizing the design plans. The township did not specify when the board voted on the proposal.
The splash pad is part of a broader round of improvements at Community Park that the township has been funding through state and county grants since 2023. West Goshen has secured $510,500 total for the park through Pennsylvania and Chester County resources, according to a June 18 memo from Township Manager Christopher Bashore. Both the splash pad and a family bathroom expansion at the park are being partially funded through those grants.
That $510,500 includes a $60,500 grant from state Sen. Carolyn Comitta, administered through the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR). Bashore said in the memo that the Comitta grant supplements funding already awarded for the project. The township's own share of costs has not been disclosed.
The splash pad is not the only work underway at the park. Construction on the family bathroom expansion began at the end of March and is nearing completion, the Sept. 16 notice said. The project had originally been expected to wrap up in early July, according to a June 24 township update, but the latest notice says only that it will be finished "shortly." The June 24 notice specified that access to the men's room was restricted during construction. The Sept. 16 update said restroom access remains restricted while crews finish the work.
