Rules governing where data centers and mixed-use developments can go in West Goshen Township could change under a zoning overhaul supervisors will review Thursday, Nov. 5.
The meeting starts at 6 p.m. at the West Goshen Township Building, 1025 Paoli Pike, West Chester.
Supervisors are scheduled to confirm changes to the proposed ordinance, including provisions for data centers and revisions to a proposed Mixed-Use Corridor District, MyChesCo reported. The data center provisions would establish how the township regulates facilities that house computing infrastructure. Changes to the Mixed-Use Corridor District could affect the types of residential and commercial development permitted in designated areas.
Zoning map revisions are also on the agenda. Those could alter the classifications governing individual properties across the township.
The overhaul would replace a zoning framework originally adopted in 1972. The Board of Supervisors awarded a contract to the consulting firm Gilmore & Associates in April 2024 for a comprehensive update, according to the township's zoning update page. A Land Planning Committee of Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors members has been reviewing uses and districts to recommend changes.
Thursday's session is a review meeting, not an adoption hearing. Supervisors may direct further revisions before deciding whether the replacement ordinance and zoning map are ready for an adoption vote.
