West Pharmaceutical Services, one of the Route 202 corridor's largest publicly traded employers, will report second-quarter 2026 financial results before markets open on Thursday. A conference call follows at 8 a.m. Eastern.
It will be one of the final earnings reports under outgoing CEO Eric M. Green, who is retiring August 31 after leading the Exton-based drug delivery component maker through years of rapid growth.
What to watch
When West reported Q1 2026 results on Thursday, net sales hit $844.9 million, a 21% jump year-over-year. Organic growth came in at 15.3%. Diluted earnings per share rose 56.1% to $1.92, and adjusted-diluted EPS climbed 46.9% to $2.13, according to the company's earnings release. Shares jumped 12.9% that day.
The company's High Value Products Components segment drove the surge, posting $409.3 million in Q1 sales, up 29.6%. Double-digit growth in both GLP-1 (obesity and diabetes drug delivery) and non-GLP-1 revenues fueled the gains. That segment accounted for 48% of total company sales.
"Our revenues grew 15% organically, driven by our High Value Products Components business with double-digit growth in both GLP-1 and non-GLP-1 revenues," Green said in the April 23 earnings release. "The better-than-expected performance can be attributed to continued market demand and the team's outstanding efforts in ramping up production, especially in Europe."
For Q2, West guided net sales between $830 million and $850 million, representing reported growth of 8.3% to 10.9%. The company also raised its full-year 2026 net sales guidance to $3.295 billion to $3.350 billion, up from a prior range of $3.215 billion to $3.275 billion.
Leadership change ahead
West announced on Monday, June 1, that its board appointed Michel Lagarde as president and CEO effective Sunday, August 31. Green will retire from his roles as president, CEO, and board chair on that date. Robert F. Friel, the lead independent director, will become board chair.
Lagarde most recently served as executive vice president and chief operating officer at Thermo Fisher Scientific. He joined Thermo Fisher in 2017 through its acquisition of Patheon N.V., where he had been president and COO.
West is headquartered at 530 Herman O. West Drive in Exton and employs more than 10,000 people across 50 global sites, including 26 manufacturing facilities. The company reported fiscal 2025 net sales of $3.07 billion. Founded in Philadelphia's Fishtown neighborhood in 1923, West celebrated its centennial in 2023.
